Hi, D’Arcy’s,
Finding out that my daughter has a serious sensitivity to gluten was the beginning of my education into eating gluten free. Since then, every time I want to prepare a meal that includes foods my daughter can eat, I have to ask myself: Where can I find gluten free products in Edmonton?
The other day I wanted to make ‘Smoky Country-Style BBQ Pork Ribs in the Slow Cooker’ from the Year of Slow Cooking web site, which features lots of gluten free recipes.
I headed to your shop, D’Arcy’s Meat Market in St. Albert, for the 3.5 lbs. of pork baby back ribs that the recipe called for. I always feel comfortable asking your friendly clerks for help when I’m not sure about a cut of meat or about how much to buy to have enough when the whole family comes over. Today, my question was about whether 3.5 lbs would feed 5 adults and 3 children.
While I was there, I discovered that D’Arcy’s carries some gluten free products. “Bonus!” I thought. A great place for meat near Edmonton – and they carry gluten free items.
While the clerk was packaging my pork ribs, I checked out the display of House of Q BBQ sauces – and found that House of Q is gluten free. You probably already know that these products are gluten free, but lots of people with gluten sensitivities like to check these things for themselves. “Double bonus!” House of Q has product sheets that list all of the ingredients. Hmmm…. Should I try the Apple Butter BBQ sauce or the Sugar and Spice BBQ sauce next time?
Thanks!
