History of D'Arcy's Meats
In 1991, D’Arcy’s Meat Market Ltd. was founded by D’Arcy Iseke after taking over Johnson’s Meats which was incorporated in 1961 by Dave Johnson as a small butcher shop servicing the community of St. Albert, Alberta. D’Arcy’s son, Kyle, worked there full time and eventually took over running his father’s meat shop. Growing up in the retail meat-cutting industry, Kyle loved the work introduced to him by his father.
On June 1st, 2009 Kyle Iseke bought D’Arcy’s Meat Market Ltd. from his father; the same shop he had worked in alongside his dad since the age of 13. In 2015, a large expansion of the butcher shop was undertaken with the help of Kyle’s Father In Law and Brother In Law. (Richard, a carpenter, and Dion, a plumber). The three men built the current location in St. Albert from the ground up taking about 1 year to complete.
After hearing another butcher shop was for sale, Kyle purchased Buffalo Valley Variety Meats in Edmonton, Alberta on October 1, 2020 from Blaine Verbeek excited to offer a second location to customers in the South Edmonton area.
On any given Saturday, the busiest day, Kyle and his team can be seen working together to serve the patiently waiting customers who dedicatedly return week after week for the best tasting steaks, pork, chicken and sausages amongst a plethora of other best in class meat products.
Kyle Iseke graduated with honors and highest in class from N.A.I.T. with a Certification in Meat-Cutting. He is happily married with two children and very fortunate that they don’t mind helping out when it gets busy!
